Woods students complete a year-long research project of their choosing as part of the AP Research course. They gain experience in research methods, oral presentation, writing a research proposal, and reporting findings in a variety of written formats including abstracts, a full-length research paper, and a poster. The group attended the Leaf Research Conference hosted by Longleaf School of the Arts in Raleigh on Saturday, April 22 with students from four areas schools. The topics included a wide range of disciplines from Music Education to Neuroscience. The conference program and abstracts are published on Guidebook under “Leaf Research Conference”. www.guidebook.com
Student participants are pictured above (from left to right): Anjali Gupta, Tyler Deegan, Erin Nowak, Emma Lanford, Frank Kuo, and Ben Carter with AP Research teacher, Suzanne Sikes, and parent, Denise O’Gorman. A final poster and dessert poster session will take place in the Glade on Wednesday, May 24 from 5-6:30 PM and is open to faculty, parents of presenters, and mentors from local universities. We appreciate the PTSA for funding the printing of research posters this year!
