Last Friday on February 3rd, Woods Charter's gym was packed with fans as they watched the Woods Charter Wolves play the River Mill Academy. At the end of the 1st half Woods was down by 4. Back in the locker room Coach John Berry encouraged the team to keep up the pace and to keep giving it their all. The boys did exactly what the coach said and at the end of the 2nd half the two teams were tied. Woods Charter and River Mill went into overtime. The back-and-forth game saw Fleet Morgan driving to the basket as the team worked River Mill's defense with quick and agile offensive moves. The overtime came to a close and the two teams were still tied.
This led to Woods Charter facing the #3 ranked team in a second overtime (the first time ever in Woods Charter history). The Wood's boys had to stay strong on both defence and offence. Defence had to stop River Mill from shooting the ball and on offence the players had to move the ball quickly to get ahead of River Mill during the second overtime. In the End Woods pulled ahead, defeating River Mill 71-66. The crowd then rushed the court and everyone was in high spirits about the amazing win the Woods Charter boys had just earned.
Thanks to Gene Galin for the awesome coverage.
